Cockatiels are known to be selective eaters and may prefer sunflowers to any other ingredient. While sunflowers are nutritious, they are also high in fat. Birds may become obese and develop nutritional deficiencies by consuming too many sunflower seeds. We've added premium Safflower as a substitute because of its similar nutritional value to sunflower seeds. Safflower seeds although loved by birds have a slightly bitter taste that may encourage foraging for other key ingredients resulting in a better balanced diet.
